Meh Dais and Hybrids

Meh Dais and Half Buckles

Simple design of a waist strap, a panel, and 2 long straps
Straps cross over on the back before tying for front carries
Straps come round your shoulders rucksack style for back carries
A half buckle is a meh dai style but with a buckle to fasten the waist straps
Some have an adjustable base to the panel making them suitable from birth - pre-school

Hip Carriers

Suitable for hip carries only
Have a waist strap as well as a shoulder strap to help distribute weight around your torso
Suitable for babies from approximately 5 mths

Meh Dais are a great carrier to share with another adult - no different sizing needed, easily adjusted as you tighten it and simple to learn.  Some people find the half buckle a great compromise between buckle carriers and more traditional styles of sling as it has just one set of straps to tie.

A standard meh dai has a one size panel which is not designed to be adjusted at the base. These can be used for little babies as they can sit inside with their legs in the froggy postion, but are really best suited for babies from about 5 months as this is when they become big enough to sit properly in the base of the panel rather than with their legs tucked inside.

Carriers with an adjustable base can be used from newborn right through - they allow the baby to sit in the base of the panel with their knees higher than their bottom in the M position from newborn and you can tie the straps to lift the baby to the height you feel they need to be.

Hip Carriers are great at doing just one position - the hip carry! They seem expensive at first, but if you know that this is the position that you and your child are happiest with, they are worth every penny as they do the job so well.
